Do you have good people skills? Good design skills? Do you want to be
the one who liaises between the maintenance crews and the manufacturers?
Your job will be more analytical and less “hands on” than the mechanical
maintenance crew. You will talk over problems with them, discuss workable
solutions and take their concerns back to the manufacturer.
If you work for the Australian Defence Forces you could be involved
in putting design and repair schemes into place. In General Aviation,
you could be involved in designing modifications to parts.
This job will appeal to someone who likes diagnosis and is more design-minded.
Based in your office rather than in the workshop, you’ll be writing
detailed reports on equipment problems and coming up with strategies
to make effective changes.
